I write regarding your Official Information Act (the Act) request, which was received by
Te Tari Taiwhenua, the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) on 6 December
2021.
You have requested:
How many leaders – from dce down to team leaders- have left dia over the process of
local government and three waters change? Itemized by band and employment type
(perm, fixed, contract, consultant etc).
Response to your request
We have interpreted your request as two questions and have responded to each below.
Question 1: the number of team leaders who have left since the commencement of the local
government Three Waters Reform programme
The Government announced the Three Waters Reform programme in July 2021. No leaders
at any level within the programme (from DCE to team leaders) have left the Department
since the Government’s announcement of the programme. Some leaders have moved
internally or gone on secondment and some contractors have left because their contract had
ended.
Question 2: the number of team leaders who have left because of the local government
Three Waters Reform programme change process
As the Department does not keep records of whether leaders have left the Department due
to the local government Three Waters Reform programme change process, we are declining
this part of your request under section 18(e) of the Act because the information requested
does not exist.
