I refer to your email of 3 July 2014, forwarded to this Office by the Ministry of Health
by letter dated 25 July 2014, in which you request information about whether the
Pharmacy Council is a "New Zealand Public Authority" for the purposes of making an
Official Information Act 1982 request.
In short, the Pharmacy Council is not an authority covered by the Official Information
Act.
The Official Information Act specifies those agencies that are covered in
Schedule 1 of that Act, and to those agencies listed in Schedule 2 of the Ombudsmen
Act 1975.
The Pharmacy Council is not listed in either the Official Information Act, or the
Ombudsmen Act, and so it is not subject to the legislation prescribed in the Official
Information Act.
