We refer to your information request dated 25 November 2021 made under the Official Information 
Act 1982. You have requested information regarding waitlist and first round offers to the 2021 
Medicine (MB ChB) programme via the Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) General category. 
 
We set out our responses to each of your questions below. 
 
It is worth noting that in 2020 a 5 mark grade increase was applied to papers taken in the first 
semester due to COVID-19 disruptions.  
 
The lowest first round offer average for HSFY General category for MB ChB commencing 
class 2021 
 
The minimum average academic score to receive a first round offer to the 2021 MB ChB programme 
via the HSFY General category was 96.57. 
 
The lowest successful average from the waitlist for the HSFY General category for MB ChB 
commencing class 2021 
 
The minimum average academic score to receive an offer from the waitlist to the 2021 MB ChB 
programme via the HSFY General category was 95.29.  
 
Please note that for entry to the 2021 MB ChB programme, the waitlist was not long enough, so 
offers were made to students who had initially been declined entry. The minimum average academic 
score of these students was 95.14. 
 
The number of students accepted from the waitlist for the HSFY General category for MB 
ChB commencing class 2021 
 
Of the students who accepted being on the waitlist, 19 received an offer to the 2021 MB ChB 
programme via the HSFY General category.
