Hi Paul, hope you are well!
I have had a query from someone I used to work with (member of the public) re the present
and future development of houses in Ruakawa st in strathmore park. She is co-chair of the
guardians of the bays and i understand she is looking to appeal the Wellington airport
development which she believes would also impact these houses.
Can you advise who she should be talking to?
Thanks

Should this member of the public go direct to the airport on this?
Also a member of the public has today tweeted us and we need to reply about this

Hi Paul,
As discuss this morning, I had a contact via LinkedIn about what our position is. I simply replied
that the person should contact our National Planning Team and then gave Gurv Sign a heads up.
Perhaps we I don’t know if we submitted on the NOR or not. Hayley will know. I think we need
some coordination on coms to make sure our message is accurate.
Cheers,

Subject: Wellington Airport query
Hi there,
I'm following the story about Wellington Airport's bid to expand, and have had a tip from a local
resident that your organisation o wns most of the housing which will be impacted should the
airport expand outward into the current golf course - something which is proposed currently.
Can I please get answers to a couple of questions?
- How many houses within 1km of the airport boundary (approx) does Kainga Ora own?
- How many people do they house?
- Are you concerned for the wellbeing of your residents should the airport boundary be moved
outward?
- Have you engaged with the airport on this matter?

My deadline is Friday midday, please.
Thanks,

Morning Erin,
Thanks for the note below and my sincerest apologies at the tardy response. As I’m sure you
could imagine we’ve had a fair amount of uncertainty here recently with the all the changes to
alert levels.
With regards to times to meet Friday this week, or Thursday and Friday next work for the team
here at Wellington Airport. In attendance from our side will be:
Jo Lester – Airport Planner
Nick Petkov – Head of Airfield Development. Nick’s team also oversee WIAL’s residential
noise attenuation programme
With regards to the meeting itself, am I right in presuming everyone will need to attend via.
Teams/Zoom? We are happy to hold here at the Airport, but I appreciate things are a little more
difficult presently with covid restrictions in place.

A Teams meeting would work best with Brent and Brendon being based outside of
Wellington. If you could send through a couple of dates and times that would be great
and the Team can secure one of the dates/times.

Kāinga Ora. However, we have set up a meeting for 3 November to meet with the Airport to
discuss the airport plans now the outcome of the NoR process in complete (notwithstanding the
