I am responding on behalf of Taranaki District Health Board (DHB) to your OIA request of 14 October 2021.
You have requested the following information:
1. Which PET CT suppliers do you use for your PET CT referrals?
Due to locality issues and patient/clinical requirements, Taranaki DHB may refer PET CTs to the following
service providers:
• Mercy Radiology, Auckland
• Midland PET-CT, Hamilton
• Pacific Radiology, Wellington
2. How are the tenders for these referrals accessed and when are they put out to tender?
Referrals are sent to service providers as per patient or clinical requirement. As Taranaki DHB uses a number
of service providers, currently there is no requirement for a tender process.
3. Are any of your PET CT referrals currently under contract with your suppliers and if so when are the
contracts up for renewal?
Taranaki DHB currently has a contract with Midland PET CT, while contracts for Pacific Radiology and Mercy
Radiology are in the pre-contracting stage.
4. Are there any extra costs to the DHB for providing PET CT scans to patients, eg travel costs,
accommodation?
Any patient that meets the National Patient Travel criteria receives funding for travel costs and
accommodation.
