Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 1 October 2021
for:
1. How many covid 19 vaccines have been given in NZ as if 1.10.21?
1.a How many have had 1 dose?
2.b How many have had 2 does's?
This information can be found on the website her
e: https://www.health.govt.nz/our-
work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-data-and-statistics/covid-19-
vaccine-data#uptake.
2. How many countries/island outside of NZ is NZ govt managing??
New Zealand has offered the Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu access to
New Zealand’s domestic vaccine portfolio to support the vaccination of their eligible populations.
We are also providing support to Fiji to meet its vaccine needs.
3. How much are you paying people in NZ to administrator the vaccine?
COVID-19 GP and Pharmacy Vaccination per dose: $36.05 ex GST
COVID-19 GP and Pharmacy Vaccination-Out of Hours per dose: $48.72 ex GST
Where a District Health Board (DHB) has assessed there is a need to provide additional support
to providers to reach a priority population, for example rural, Māori, Pacific or disabled
communities, they are able to provide funding that recognises the additional resource that will
be required. DHBs have a good understanding of their areas and are able to work with
providers to ensure that costs are met.
4. How much vaccine has been dumped/wasted/expired up to 1.10.21
As of 3 October 2021, wastage recorded by the DHBs was 1,526 vials. This equates to 9,156
doses based on planning assumption of six doses per vial. Given 5,349,759 doses were
administered as of 3 October 2021, this equates to 0.17% of doses administered.
5. How many people in NZ got the 1st does but decided not to get the 2nd
Ministry of Health (the Ministry) does not hold this information as it is not information that we
request from individuals. Please refer to the Ministry website for New Zealand vaccine statistics:
