Thank you for your email of 30 September 2021 to the Ministry of Education requesting the
following information:
[Since the last general election but including any documentation or work from before
the election that has remained relevant.]
1. a list of EdTech advisors, partners, stakeholders, and participating education
providers or groups;
2. any planning, strategy, or discussion documents relating to the implementation of
EdTech initiatives, and note how they relate to initiatives at other ministries or
institutions;
3. and note any relevant procurement contracts that have been awarded or are being
prepared for tender.
Your request has been considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Our response to your individual questions has been outlined below:
Part one: a list of EdTech advisors, partners, stakeholders, and participating
education providers or groups
I am providing you with the attached list as
Appendix A. We have defined EdTech as software
and hardware that is designed for the purpose of contributing to teaching and learning
outcomes directly.
As these are working documents and not formal stocktakes, they are not guaranteed to contain
all possible items under each category. We do not hold a full list but have provided the
information based on our knowledge at this time. As such I am refusing this part of your request
under section 18(e) of the Act, but we are providing you with some information to be helpful.
Part two: any planning, strategy, or discussion documents relating to the
implementation of EdTech initiatives, and note how they relate to initiatives at other
ministries or institutions
We are providing you with two key strategy documents owned by the Ministry in full as the
attached
Appendix B. These documents are the key materials the Ministry have developed
in the timeframe you noted. To search through every planning, strategy, or discussion
document would be a significant task as the Ministry is consistently working to improve

education for all ages and as such, we are refusing the planning and discussion documents
under section 18(f) of the Act due to the substantial collation involved.
The strategy documents we are providing in full are as follows:

Education for the Digital Age Mātauranga mo te Tau Mamati: Case for Change and
Next Steps

Education System Digital Strategy: Transforming Education for the Digital Age 2015-
2020.
Please note that the Education System Digital Strategy is currently being revised.
Consultation is scheduled to commence in 2022 through six online workshops planning for
further EdTech needs.
For part three of your request, we are providing a list of relevant procurement contracts as the
attached
Appendix C. As per part one of your request, these are working documents and not
formal stocktakes, they are not guaranteed to contain all possible items under each category.
We do not hold a full list but have provided the information based on our knowledge at this
time.
