Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), transferred to the
Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 6 October 2021, for information related to COVID-19 cases
in Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) facilities from 1 June 2021 to 31 August 2021. I will
respond to each part of your request in turn.
What is the total number of returnees through MIQ over the period?
A total of 26,053 returnees arrived in MIQ during the requested period. Please note that this
number excludes air crew and community arrivals.
- What is the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 identified through MIQ over the
period?
A total of 286 returnees tested positive during this time.
- Of the returnees who tested positive, what was their country of origin? If you do not have
complete records I would accept partial records.
Information on the departure country of returnees who tested positive while in MIQ is included in
the table below.
