Dear Raja 
 
Thank you for your request dated 8 September 2021 to Kāinga Ora – Homes and 
Communities requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 
(the Act): 
 
  Could you please provide estimated construction completion dates for Ormiston 
Rise 176 Kiwi build homes. 
  Are these homes on track of completion by December 2021?” 
 
The Ormiston Rise development was placed into receivership on Friday 7 May 2021. Since 
that time the receivers have been undertaking a process to sell the development. 
 
Recently, the receivers announced the successful sale of the development to “The 
Neighbourhood Ormiston Limited”.  The receivers expect the sale to settle later this month, 
which will allow the project to move ahead. The new developers have committed to 
completing the development as originally planned; however, delays experienced while the 
development was in receivership and the current COVID-19 alert level restrictions will have 
an impact on the previously anticipated completion timeframe. 
 
In view of these circumstances I am refusing your request under Section 18(g) of the Act as 
Kāinga Ora does not hold information about any revised estimated construction completion 
dates.  
 
You have the right under Section 28(3) of the Act to seek an investigation by the 
Ombudsman about this response. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
