Dear Steven
Thank you for your email of 14/11/2021 requesting information on
significant
communications relating to Global Warming Potentials (GWP) for Methane accounting. Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA).
You requested the following:

“I have been informed that there is significant communications on this subject
that have not been disclosed as part of this request. Can you please send me
all relevant information. I would like to extend the scope of the request from
2018 up until the 12th of November 2021. I have been told there was
communication recently that would be of interest to the public.”
This is a subsequent request to MinOIA21-0155. That request, made on 5 September
2021, asked for:

“Any emails or communications you have had with Beef & Lamb New Zealand,
DairyNZ and Federated Farmers regarding the use of GWP* for Methane
accounting.”
The following information is released to you
Email received Tuesday 2 November 2021 from DairyNZ with their ‘
View From
the Cowshed report’. The report itself is publicly available here:

Email received 19 October 2021 titled ‘
Joint letter prior to COP26’. The letter
itself has also been included. This is a joint letter prepared by Federated
Farmers, DairyNZ and Beef + Lamb New Zealand.
Some information has been withheld pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the OIA – to protect
the privacy of natural persons.
I am satisfied that in the circumstances of this case, the withholding of the information
is not outweighed by other considerations which render it desirable in the public
interest to make the information available.
