Request for information about the power outage on 9th August 2021 and communications 
 
I acknowledge receipt of your Official Information Act (OIA) request, dated 11 August 2021, 
for the following:  
  •  all internal information of which includes communication eg verbal, emails, text etc. 
Including any documents and other relevant information for the incident of the 
power outage across the country on Monday 9th August 2021; and 
•  information as to why the general public was not notified until after the power was 
cut off, and specifically why was there absolutely no prior communication or warning 
before the outage took place.  
 
We are currently experiencing a high volume of information requests.  We will endeavour to 
respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than 8 September 
2021, being 20 working days after your request was received.  If we are unable to respond 
to your request by then, we wil  notify you of an extension of timeframe.   
 
Please note, as currently framed, we anticipate your request could require substantial 
collation, which we would al ow us to decline the request under section 18(f) of the OIA.  If 
you are willing to amend or clarify your request, we could more helpfully, easily and 
promptly respond to it.  I am happy to discuss this directly with you if that would help.
