Dear Mr Chipping

Official Information Act 1982 Request: Feedback on proposals against incitement of
hatred and discrimination

Thank you for your email of 10 July 2021 requesting the following information under the
Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act):

… the complete feedback on the Incitement of Hatred and Discrimination in Aotearoa
New Zealand discussion document.

The Proposals Against Incitement of Hatred and Discrimination Discussion document
received approximately 20,000 submissions from citizens wanting to contribute. Given the
large volume of responses I am refusing your request under section 18(f) of the Act as this
would require substantial collation and research to respond.

The Free Speech Union have made their submissions publicly available which may be of
assistance to you. These can be found here:

If you are not satisfied with my response, you have the right to complain to the Ombudsman
under section 28(3) of the Act. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address].

Thank you for writing.

Yours sincerely
