[FYI request #16195 email]
Dear Rachel
Thank you for your email of 26 July 2021 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (the
Ministry) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), the following information:
“Could I please request the fol owing information for the time frame of 01 February 2021 to 01
July 2021, broken down into daily records:
1. The total number of MIQ rooms on each day (broken down into those not available for use due
to cleaning or maintenance, those retained for emergency and those available for use)
2. The number of MIQ rooms physically occupied, on each day 3. The number of MIQ rooms
reserved for a voucher holding occupant on each day”
I apologise for the delay in providing a response to the above request. Due to the current Covid-19 alert
level, the Ministry is currently focused on assisting with the pandemic response.
We are striving to work to fulfil requests within statutory deadlines, however, it is apparent that the
necessity to be working remotely makes it more difficult to consult with the appropriate subject matter
experts, gather the information in scope of a request, and general y work through the decision-making
and appropriate sign out processes.
Additionally, Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) subject matter experts are themselves prioritising
work related to the Government’s response to this community outbreak. These are the people inside the
MIQ system that we rely upon for data, files, and information related to requests who may not be able to
prioritise our requests for data, or other information for OIA requests at this time.
As such, while we had intended to extend your request for this information on the due date of 23 August
2021, by 10 working days to 6 September 2021, to complete consultations with all relevant parties on the
due date, this was inadvertently overlooked yesterday.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802
602.
Yours sincerely
