Re: Information about Auckland Council's cattle
Thank you for your email, which we received on 29, June 2021, requesting information about
Auckland Council's cattle.
Please find our response to your questions below.
1. A current list of cattle owned by Auckland Council, a list of cattle movements since
30 June 2020, and the latest cattle audit. Please find attached:
• Stock Audit Results 2021
• NAIT cattle movements 1 July 2020 - 30 June 2021
2. Al NAIT movements since records began up until 1 November 2019.
Due to the substantial amount of work that would be required to research and collate the
information you have requested; we are unable to grant your request in its current form. We
have provided you NAIT records under previous request, such as LGOIMA reference
8140007074 and 8140004255, but this request is refused under section 17(f) of the Local
Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
We have considered whether charging or extending the timeframe for responding to your
request would help, as required by section 17A of the LGOIMA. However, the amount of
time it would take to locate and collate the information would have a significant impact on our
ability to carry out our other functions. We would not be able to extend our response time or
apply a charge to be able to respond to this request in its current form.
3. Correspondence and documents relating to the live export of cattle owned by
Auckland Council.
We are unable to provide this information in its current form, as the request is quite broad.
Can you please refine your request by letting us know what specific information you are after
and a specific timeframe.
4. Purchase receipts and sales records of cattle sold/purchased by Auckland Council
from the earliest date possible up until 1 January 2018, as wel as from 4 October
2020 to the present day.

As per question 2, information like this has already been provided to you under LGOIMA
reference 8140007553. Due to the way our records are kept, sourcing receipts prior to 2018
would put considerable amount of pressure on our time and resource.
However, we can provide the attached information on cattle sales and purchases since 1
October 2020.
Please note that we cannot provide the sale and purchase amounts due to commercial
sensitivity.
5. Any parentage information held on cattle owned by Auckland Council. This might
be recorded in farm management software such as Farmax or FarmIQ.
Auckland Council does not hold records of parentage information on cattle.
Decisions about this response to your request were made by Taryn Crewe, General
