SIMON DYNE 
 
 
Simon grew up in Lower Hutt and attended Nae Nae College in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  He was 
Head Boy in his final year and went on to the University of Canterbury to study engineering, which runs in 
his family blood.  After leaving University in 1998 he worked in the forest industry for Carter Holt Harvey.  
While progressing through management roles Simon’s leadership skills were recognised and he progressed 
to running the Northern Region engineering, harvesting, and trucking from Tairua up to Cape Reinga with 
responsibility for over 100,000ha of forestry.  After helping with the sale of Carter Holt Harvey’s forest 
assets Simon moved on to self employment and project management before signing up with Fulton Hogan 
in 2006. 
Enjoying working for New Zealand’s largest Kiwi owned and operated construction business Simon is now 
the North Island General Manager.  He provides strategic leadership and governance across all of Fulton 
Hogan’s North Island contracting projects managing a turnover of $1bn and a workforce of 2400 personnel.  
He is a charted professional engineer, with significant governance experience including as a current board 
member of Allied Asphalt, Rodney Aggregates Ltd, Stevensons Aggregates Ltd, Stevensons Concrete Ltd, 
Auckland Harbour Bridge Alliance, Auckland System Management (ASM) contract and the Capital Journeys 
NOC contract. 
Simon has a strong commitment to sustainability, including attending the Prince of Wales’s Business and 
Sustainability Programme and spearheading key initiatives including the implementation of Green fuels 
Biodiesel in Auckland, Recycled Asphalt and Concrete Production facilities and the conversion of the 
Auckland Laboratory to solar power.  In 2015 Simon was awarded the IPWEA young engineer of the year 
award.  He has a strong focus on encouraging diversity into the construction industry and champions 
looking after the true skilled workers who keep New Zealand moving.  Simon attended and was inspired by 
the Invictus Games in 2018 and values the strong relationship between Fulton Hogan and the NZDF across 
New Zealand. 
A keen outdoors enthusiast Simon has hunted, dived and fished across New Zealand, is a published Author, 
and has helped numerous young people catch their first Trout or shoot their first deer.  Simon’s favourite 
achievements are seeing the young people he has mentored go forward and succeed in life – just being 
happy and achieving wellbeing is success.
