Dear Jon
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email
of 16 April 2021 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
I am writing to ask why the 3 million dollars put aside in the 2018 RLTP for investigating missing
cycle links between Hillsborough and Queenstown road has vanished from this year’s iteration
without any reason.
This was in appendix 2, under the NZTA investment program heading.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is currently working closely with Auckland Transport to plan and
deliver a safe crossing facility in the form of a raised speed table on Queenstown Road to reduce
traffic speeds in the area.
The original placeholder funding figure was to enable a business case to be undertaken for the
proposed cycle links. The business case was not progressed in the 2018-21 National Land Transport
Programme period due to the planning work undertaken for the City Centre to Māngere
(CC2M) Light Rail project overlapping this location along the State Highway 20 corridor.
The business case is not being progressed as a standalone activity at this stage as Waka Kotahi will
need to investigate how other modes, such as walking and cycling connections, could seamlessly
connect to the CC2M Light Rail corridor in the long term.
If you would like to discuss this reply with the Waka Kotahi, please contact Prasad Tala, Principal
Transport Planner, by email to [email address] or by phone on (09) 928 8828.
Yours sincerely
