Dear Sir
Building Consent Processing
I refer to your official information request received this Council by email on 8 April 2021.
We have decided to grant your request in part, namely information which relates to monthly
averages for numbers of building consent applications received, number of applications processed,
turnaround time to process applications. This information is listed below.
1)
Number of applications received / mthly
269 per month over last 12 months
2)
Number of applications processed / mthly
229 per month over last 12 months
3)
Turn-around time to process the application / mthly
20 working days average over last 12 months
We have also decided to refuse your request for information which relates to placing information in
to two categories, being new buildings and modification to existing builds under section 17(a) of
LGOIMA being substantial col ation or research. The software that Council’s uses does not separate
building consents in to categories as requested, therefore it would take substantial time for Council
to go through each building consent and categorise as requested. Council has considered whether
it would be appropriate to fix a charge or extend the time limit to assist with responding to this
request. However as Council is receiving record levels of building consent applications with limited
resourcing in trying to meet legislative timeframes under the Building Act, we do not consider that
these options would enable Council to grant the request.
