[FYI request #15002 email] Dear Mr Warburton
Request for information 2021-066
I refer to your request for information dated 26 March 2021, which was received by Greater
Wellington Regional Council (Greater Wellington) on 26 March 2021. You have requested the
following:
“In December 2020 I advised GWRC that some of its weblinks were not functioning correctly. This
is what I said:
"Hello GW – can you please look into an apparent issue with accessing the annual report “GWRC
2020. Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour monitoring 2019/20. Greater Wellington Region Council.”
The website
(https://www.gw.govt.nz/annual-monitoring-reports/2020/te-awarua-o-porirua-
harbour/index.html) says it is available here:
https://www.gw.govt.nz/annual-monitoring-
reports/2020/te-awarua-o-porirua-harbour
But that is just the same weblink.
It should be available as a .pdf.
By the way you might want to get all the annual reports links checked. None of these seem to
work"
This was sent to Greg Campbell, and cc'd to Jenny Brash (councillor) Jenny subsequently sent it to
Mr Al Cross.
Nothing appears to have been done to rectify the access issues.

My requests:
- please tell me when the weblink issues will be resolved, and,
- in the meantime please provide me with a copy of the document entitled: 'GWRC 2020. Te
Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour monitoring 2019/20. Greater Wellington Region Council."
Greater Wellington’s response follows:
Staff have reviewed the web link of the requested annual report and others for 2019/20. The links
you mentioned are intended to refer to the same page and provide a citation and navigation link for
easy incorporation into others’ reference lists. However, this does provide an unhelpful circular loop
once on the page.
Your feedback has highlighted that navigation of the pages of this report is not obvious. Navigating
through the reporting uses tabs across the top of the webpage for different sections. These tabs look
the same as the section tabs which move between ‘unrelated’ parts of our main website. Using the
same design to navigate through related parts of a report may not be obvious to readers and we will
reconsider the design during the next annual reporting update in December 2021.
The report requested is available in an interactive web format at this address:
https://www.gw.govt.nz/annual-monitoring-reports/2020/te-awarua-o-porirua-
harbour/index.html
The report content is provided through a series of tabs viewed across the top of the webpage. Each
tab provides a brief summary of the methods, results and includes interactive graphics and maps
that visualise the results. There is no .pdf version of the annual reporting as the interactive tools can
only be done in a web based format.
If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter, you have the right to request
an investigation and review by the Ombudsman under section 27(3) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Yours sincerely
Al Cross
