Official information request for individuals employed in tutor or equivalent
roles: T3 2020, T1 2021
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
dated 16 March 2021:
In September 2020 I made an OIA request for the number of individuals
employed in Tutor or equivalent roles. Victoria University of Wellington
provided a .xlsx table containing 'Staff employed with the job title “Tutor” or
“Senior Tutor” (headcount) by Faculty and School/Division by Trimester (2015 –
2020)'
I would like to request an updated table, in the same format, that includes the
equivalent data for Trimester 3 2020 and Trimester 1 2021.
Please see the attached updated spreadsheet that provides headcount numbers for all
appointments at Faculty and School levels with “Tutor” and “Senior Tutor” in the job title.
The headcount for the number of tutors employed at the University results from a
complex iteration of the number of courses offered and the number of students taking
them.
As per our previous response to you, trimester dates are based on those in the University
Calendar and employees who have held multiple tutor jobs will have been counted
multiple times.
Please note that the number of tutors is not a direct indication of the number of tutorials
offered as individual tutors may be delivering tutorials in more than one course. Changes
in the number of tutors in various areas may also reflect students favouring study in some
areas over others.
