Official Information Act 1982 request
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 31 March 2021 to the Ministry of
Justice (the Ministry) regarding the unpublished electoral roll. Specifically, you have requested the
following.
1) Does the Ministry of Justice seek details of those on the Unpublished Rol of Electors from the
Electoral Commission for jury service purposes?
2) If so, what policies or agreements are in place between the two organisations to ensure that
the details of those on the unpublished rol are kept secure?
In response to part 1 of your request, I can advise that the Ministry does not seek details of those on the
unpublished rol of electors.
In response to part 2 of your request, the information requested does not exist. Therefore, I am refusing
your request, as allowed by section 18(e) of the OIA, as there are no grounds for believing that the
information is held by another department, Minister of the Crown, organisation, or local authority.
