I  refer  to  your  email  of  2  March  2021  in  which  you  request  the  following  under  the  Official 
Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
“Could you please advise how much New Zealand has pledged in aid to Yemen in 2020, 
and in 2021? This request relates to any pledges, whether through the United Nations 
virtual pledging conferences on Monday 1 March 2021, and 2 June 2020, or otherwise.” 
New Zealand has contributed NZ$18.5 million in total to humanitarian support in Yemen since 
2017. Of this funding, New Zealand pledged NZ$5 million in 2020, including NZ$3 million in 
December 2020, working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the 
UN World Food Programme (WFP). No further funding has been pledged yet in 2021. 
In addition, in 2020 New Zealand contributed NZ$7 million through the UN Central Emergency 
Response Fund (CERF) towards the Global Humanitarian Response Fund for COVID-19, and 
NZ$2.5 million through CERF towards famine prevention. Yemen was a key beneficiary of both 
initiatives.  
Attached is the statement that the New Zealand Permanent Representative to the United 
Nations in New York delivered at the recent United Nations Yemen Pledging Conference.
