Thank you for your email dated 4 February 2021 asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“I would like to make a request for a list of vendors that have provided data science services to
ACC in the last three years”.
Vendors that have provided data science services to ACC in the last three years
In 2019 ACC undertook a request for proposal (RFP) for a Data and Information panel in conjunction
with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. That process was concluded early in
2020 and established a syndicated contract with a panel of suppliers for a range of data and information
needs, including data science resources.
There were 49 suppliers (listed below) who were awarded entry onto the panel, who were assessed as
having the required capability to provide data science services. However, there has been no specific
requests for data science services off that panel. As such we are refusing your request for a list of data
science vendors who have provided services to ACC since 2019 under section 18(e) of the Act, as the
information does not exist.
For your information, we are providing you with a list of the vendors below, that were successful in
gaining entry to the panel in 2019.
We recognise that ‘data science’ is a generic and non-specific term. ACC has worked with four other
suppliers who are on the same panel for analytical, modelling, and data manipulation work.
We are also unable to provide you with a list of data science vendors in 2018. This is because ACC has
not readily utilized data science services before 2019, and to determine if we have used data science
vendors would require us to manually search through all the invoices for relevant projects to identify
where ACC had used the services of a data science vendor. This would take a substantial amount of
manual collation and research. Therefore, we are refusing this part of your request under section 18(f)
of the Official Information Act.
