Request for information under the Official Information Act 
 
Thank  you  for  your  email  dated  31  January  2021  to  the  New  Zealand  Customs  Service 
(Customs)  via  the  FYI  website,  in  which  you  request  the  following  under  the  Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
“I would like to request the annual statistics for New Zealand citizens travel on foreign 
passports to enter and leave New Zealand from 2010 to 2020. 
 
Please provide break down for each nationality of passport used.” 
 
On  1  February  2021,  we  advised  you  that  Customs  cannot  distinguish  those  New  Zealand 
citizens that arrived into New Zealand on a foreign passport and that we can only supply you 
with  a  breakdown  of  all  nationalities  that  have  arrived  into  New  Zealand.  On  2  February 
2021, you advised that this information is sufficient.  
 
In response, please find attached a spreadsheet titled ‘Arriving air passengers by nationality’ 
which contains arriving passengers to New Zealand by nationality from 1 January 2010 to 31 
December 2020.
