OIA request 20/21 0350 Request for citizenship ceremony schedule 
Thank you for your Official Information Act (Act) request received by the Department of Internal 
Affairs (Department) on 17 December 2020.      
You requested –  
•  please publish (or give a link if it is published already) the schedule of Citizenship 
Ceremonies for 2021 in Auckland region (Rodney district). 
 
I must advise that a decision was made after the Christchurch attacks not to publish citizenship 
ceremony dates and times.  
Your request is therefore refused pursuant to section 9(2)(c) of the Act; avoid prejudice to 
measures protecting the health or safety of members of the public. 
If a person has been approved for grant of citizenship they will be invited to attend the next 
available ceremony. Please note that citizenship applicants are allocated to ceremonies in order 
of approval. Should they wish to determine when their ceremony may be taking place, they can 
email the Department’s ceremonies team directly at [email address]. 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
