Official Information request
I write in response to your official information request dated 17 November 2020 for the number
of PhD candidates at Lincoln University who received an outright failure (no degree awarded)
as the outcome of their oral examinations in 2018, 2019 or 2020 (by year).
In response, I can confirm that no unsuccessful Lincoln University PhD students have failed
at the oral examination stage during the period requested. It would be unusual for a thesis at
the risk of failure to proceed to oral examination; it would be more usually sent back for revision
and resubmission prior to that stage.
If you wish to discuss this response, please contact the undersigned.
Please note that you are entitled under section 28 of the Official Information Act 1982, to have
this response reviewed by the Office of the Ombudsman.
