Official Information Request REQ167551 Waikato PT Bus and Rail fares
I refer to your official information request received 12 November 2020 for information regarding Waikato
Public Transport and information from July 2018.
Council has responded to your request below each of your questions.
Your request: I am interested in the fare revenue and operating cost of Waikato's public transport services since July
2018.
I am also interested in the resultant PT patronage for Waikato’s public transport services and so also
request the following monthly patronage information.
If this information is held in electronic form, I would prefer the information was provided in its complete
and original electronic format.
1) Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail fare revenue from July 2018?
Waikato Regional Council has not collected monthly rail fare revenue as the Te Huia service has not
commenced.
2) Can I please have a copy of the rail ticket sales by ticket type and ticket type revenue from July 2018?
As the Te Huia service has not commenced, there has not been any rail tickets sold and there is no revenue
to report.
3) Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail operating cost paid to the rail operator from July 2018?
As the Te Huia service has not commenced there have been no payments relating to the operating cost.
4) Can I please have a copy of the monthly fare revenue for each bus route and for each bus PTOM unit
for each month from July 2018?
The monthly fare revenue for bus route has been collated for you. Please refer to Worksheet 4 within the
attached spreadsheet “Request for information Req167551.xlsx”.
5) Can I please have a copy of the bus ticket sales by ticket type and ticket type revenue for each bus
route for each month from July 2018?

6) Can I please have a copy of the monthly bus PTOM contract operating cost paid to bus operators for
each PTOM bus unit for each month from July 2018?
The monthly bus PTOM contract operating costs paid to the operators has been collated for you. Please
refer to Worksheet 6 within the attached spreadsheet “Request for information Req167551.xlsx”.
7) Can I please have a copy of the monthly the total number of passenger boardings by rail from July
2018?
Data is not available as the Te Huia service has not commenced.

during Peak Times by rail from July 2018?
Data is not available as the Te Huia service has not commenced.
12) Can I please have a copy of the monthly the total number of passenger boardings which began
during Peak Times by bus route from July 2018?
The monthly total boardings during peak time by bus route has been collated for you. Data is not available
for June 2020 due to the switchover in ticketing systems and travel being free. Please refer to Worksheet
12 within the attached spreadsheet “Request for information Req167551.xlsx”.
13) Can I please have a copy of the monthly the total number of trips passenger boardings began during
Off Peak Times by rail from July 2018?
Data is not available as the Te Huia service has not commenced.

during Off Peak Times by bus route from July 2018?
The monthly total boardings during off peak time by bus route has been collated for you. Data is not
available for June 2020 due to the switchover in ticketing systems and travel being free. Please refer to

15) Can I please have a copy of the monthly the total passenger kilometres by rail from July 2018?
