We’ve all changed how we work due to COVID-19 with one noticeable change being how
we attend conferences.
1. Many events were postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic but we’re starting to
RELEASED
see event organisers adapt to the new normal. One great example is the upcoming 2020
Climate Change + Business Conference (CCBC).
2. CCBC brings together a diverse group of speakers on climate action across government
and the business sector who will explore the extent to which business, policy-makers and
the public can redefine our future.
3. An exciting change that CCBC organisers have introduced this year is livestreaming the
event. Waka Kotahi is proudly sponsoring the livestreaming as it fits well with ou
r Toitū Te
Taiao vision of a low carbon, safe and healthy land transport system.
4. Lisa Rossiter, Senior Manager Environment and Sustainability, says “It is great to be
supporting the livestreaming of this year’s CCBC. We’re exploring ways we can all be more
sustainable and livestreaming this event has multiple benefits; it helps reduce travel
emissions, lessens costs and allows people who might not normally attend to be part of
this.”

5. Travelling less is key to achieving Aotearoa New Zealand’s carbon reduction targets and
this will be a specific topic of discussion in the ‘Redefining Transport and Travel’ session.
Panel speakers for this session include the Chief Executives of EECA and Auckland
ACT
Transport as well as Dr Paul Winton who has presented hi
s research on this topic to our
Board, Executive Leadership Team and Kaitiaki recently.
6. If you are interested in participating in the 2020 CCBC there is still time t
o register. We
encourage our people outside of Auckland to lead by example and try the livestreaming
option.
