Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act, received on 27 
August 2020.  You requested: 
“...the amount to the NZ treasury by virtual of money approved in both vote defence 
and vote police that has been used in the security and transport of the march 2019 
offender and that was usage of Royal New Zealand Air Force aircraft for transport of 
offender in line with vote defence guidelines and if this was economical for the NZ 
tax payer when department of corrections and ministry of justice have in there 
budget for remote court hearings. I would also like a Treasury estimate for the 
housing of said offender by treasury in his estimated life span given his sentence.” 

 
The Treasury does not hold information relating to your request, but I believe parts of the 
information requested are held by the Ministry of Justice, the New Zealand Defence Force 
and the New Zealand Police, as outlined below:   
Ministry of Justice: “…if this was economical for the NZ tax payer when department 
of corrections and ministry of justice have in their budget for remote court hearings.” 
 
New Zealand Defence Force: “…the amount to the NZ treasury by virtual of money 
approved in both vote defence … that has been used in the security and transport of 
the march 2019 offender and that was usage of Royal New Zealand Air Force 
aircraft for transport of offender in line with vote defence guidelines” 
 
New Zealand Police: “…the amount to the NZ treasury by virtual of money approved

The Ministry of Justice, the New Zealand Defence Force and New Zealand Police have 20 
working days from receipt of this transfer to make a decision on your request.
