Dear Jo
I am writing in response to the email you submitted 11 August 2020. Your request has been
considered pursuant to the Official Information Act 1982. Specifically you requested: 1. I request a copy of any policy or Procedure you have that covers members of the public going on 'ride alongs' (observing Police on their duties).
Police has a chapter “Management of observers”, detailing the process of managing
volunteers or observers whilst under the responsibility of Police, attached for your
information. Please note that this chapter is currently under review.
I trust you are satisfied with my response to your request. If not, you have a right under
section 28(3) of the Official Information Act 1982 to ask the Office of the Ombudsman to
seek an investigation and review of my decision. Yours sincerely
