Thank you for your Official Information Act request to the Auckland Conservation
Board, dated 28 July 2020. Your request was originally lodged with the Department
of Conservation, who transferred it to the Conservation Board on 4 August 2020.
You requested the following information, as a follow up to my letter dated 23 January
2020, in relation to the issuing of name badges to members of the Conservation
Board:
If the badges have been ordered and issued to all members.
In response to your question, I have to advise that as at the date of writing, further
name badges have not yet been ordered. I decided to delay ordering badges
because the term of appointment for a number of the Conservation Board’s members
were due to expire on 30 June 2020. I considered that it was a better use of the
Board’s limited funds to wait for the outcome of the 2020 round of appointments to
Conservation Boards to be announced, before placing an order for further name
badges rather than hastily order name badges for members whose membership on
the Board was potentially about to expire.
The Minister of Conservation announced her appointments on 21 July 2020 (see her

With the membership of the Conservation Board now confirmed, I am now in a
position to place an order for name badges for our members and I intend to arrange
this through the Department of Conservation’s staff, who provide service and support
for the Conservation Board.
