Thank you for your email of 7 July 2020 requesting, under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act), the following information: 
▪  Please provide copies of all Memorandum of Understanding (MoU’s) signed in 
the last five years related to the sharing of data to organisations outside your 
organisation. 
The  information  you  have  requested  has  been  appended  to  this  response.  Some  of 
this information has been redacted under section 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act 
1982 to protect the privacy of individuals or staff being referred to. 
MoU’s  regarding  the  supply  of  data  to  Stats  NZ  by  other  organisations,  and  MoUs 
regarding  the  supply  of  published  statistical  products  by  Stats  NZ  to  other 
organisations have been treated as out of scope of this request, and are not included 
in this response. 
Stats  NZ  also supplies  microdata  to  researchers  and  other  organisations  through  the 
Data Lab. For more information, see the list of microdata research projects here, and 
collection of research outputs here. 
Stats  NZ  intends  to  publish  its  response  to  your  request  made  under  the  Act  on  the 
Stats NZ website. This letter, with your personal details removed, will be published  in 
its entirety. Consistent with the Act, publishing responses increases the availability of 
information to the public and helps promote balanced public debate.
