Dear Mr Gibson
Official Information Request
Our Ref:  SSCOIA 2020/0051
I refer to your official information request received on 10 June 2020 where you asked:
“Please provide the total cost that was spent producing the Machinery of Government
Events dataset available at https://catalogue.data.govt.nz/dataset/mog-events.”
Information being released
In response to your request, I can advise that the production of the Machinery of Government
events dataset was undertaken by the State Services Commission (SSC) as part of our
business as usual work programme and contained no additional cost.  As a result, it is not
possible to identify the cost of individual staff involved in the work associated.
Production of the dataset involved consolidating information, that was already in the public
domain, into a standardised dataset that is in a single resource and easily reusable format. This
work fell within SSC’s baseline of business as usual activity.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz  or

Please note that we intend to publish this letter (with your personal details removed) on the
State Services Commission’s website.
Yours sincerely
