Official Information Act request relating to COVID-19 communications relating to 
posts made by Dr Simon Thornley and the COVID Plan B team 
 
Thank  you  for  your  request  made  under  the  Official  Information  Act  1982  (the  Act), 
received on 15 May 2020. You requested: 
 
“Under the official information act, I would like to see all e-mails or other written 
communication from the Prime Minister's office to media outlets in New Zealand 
related  to  posts  made  by  Dr  Simon  Thornley,  or  other  members  of  the  "Covid 
Plan B" team (http://www.covidplanb.co.nz/), about Covid-19 or the government's 
response to this issue.” 
 
I  believe  that  the  information  you  have  requested  is  more  closely  connected  to  the 
functions  of  the  Prime  Minister,  Rt  Hon  Jacinda  Ardern.  Accordingly,  I  have  decided 
under  section  14(b)(ii)  of  the  Act,  and  section  39(b)(ii)  of  the  Privacy  Act  1993  where 
the  requested  information  relates  to  yourself,  to  transfer  your  request  to  the  Prime 
Minister.  
 
The  Prime  Minister  has  the  usual  timeframes  from  receipt  of  this  transfer  to  make  a 
decision on your request.
