OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT REQUEST 
 
Thank you for your email of 6 May 2020, requesting ‘a copy of the draft national pest 
management plan for kauri dieback and the proposed national standards for walking 
tracks in kauri forests’. Your request has been considered under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (OIA). 
 
The ‘National (Kauri Dieback) Pest Management Plan Proposal’ is available on the 
Kauri Dieback website. However, before a plan can be drafted, a National (Kauri 
Dieback) Pest Management Plan will require Ministerial approval of the above 
proposal, including funding to implement the plan. Therefore, this part of your request 
is refused pursuant to Section 18(e) of the OIA, as the document requested does not 
exist.

The draft Track Standards are currently being reviewed by an independent panel. 
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) will publicly release these once the review is 
concluded and the standards finalised. MPI hopes to have this process completed by 
July 2020. Therefore, this part of your request is refused pursuant to Section 18(d) of 
the OIA, as the information requested will soon be publicly available.  
 
You have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to seek an investigation and review 
by the Ombudsman of this decision.
