Dear Tania 
I refer to your request dated 01 May 2020, pursuant to the Official Information Act 1982, 
seeking: 
Over the past three years: 
a) How many Maori women (and what percentage of the total number of
applicants) applied for Tier 2 roles or above? 
b) How many Maori women (and what percentage of the total number of
successful applicants) were successfully appointed to the jobs which they 
applied for at Tier 2 or above? 
This question is being asked of all public sector departments. 
The Ministry only employs Tier 2 and below roles. Any roles that are higher than Tier 2 
are appointed and employed by the State Services Commission (SSC) and SSC will 
respond to your request with this information.  
Over the past three years the Ministry ran four Tier 2 recruitment processes via an external 
Recruitment Agency from May to July 2017. Ethnicity data was not collected as part of the 
recruitment process so we are unable to provide this information to you.  
Of those appointed to the four Tier 2 roles, zero are Maori women. 
The Ministry publishes our Official Information Act responses and the information contained in 
our reply to you will be published on the Ministry website.  Before publishing we will remove 
any personal or identifiable information.
