I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) request to the Department of the Prime Minister
and Cabinet (
DPMC) dated 19 March 2020 for information including:
“(b) All Cabinet papers relating to the Foreshore and Seabed Act 2004.”
Your request for papers relating to the Foreshore and Seabed Act was transferred to Te Arawhiti for
processing on 13 July. On 7 August, we notified you that we were extending the timeframe for responding
to your request to 18 September.
Attached to this letter as an appendix are the documents which are relevant to your request. From Tuesday

Redactions consistent with the following provisions of the Act have been made:
• section 9(2)(a): to protect the privacy of natural persons;
• section 9(2)(h) on the basis that the information is subject to legal privilege; and
• section 9(2)(j) to enable the Crown to carry on negotiations with individual groups and
organisations, including commercial negotiations.
