Thank you for your email of 16 March 2020 requesting information relating to copies
of meeting minutes held by the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee
(NAWAC). Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982
(OIA).
You requested the following:
“Could I please get al NAWAC minutes that are not currently publicly available on the
Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) website?”
On 23 March 2020, you clarified that you are interested in “
all unpublished minutes
dating back to 2015”.
You further clarified that you are interested in “
any NAWAC meeting minutes that
refer to the codes of welfare for meat chickens, layer hens, pigs, dairy cattle; the lack
of a code of welfare for fish and the development of potential code of welfare for fish”.
Please find attached the NAWAC meeting minutes for 2015. As you have also
requested meeting minutes where Codes of Welfare are discussed for meat
chickens, layer hens, pigs, dairy cattle or fish, we have included minutes prior to
2015.

page numbers, are provided to you below:

by the Ombudsman of our decision to withhold some information.
