Dear Ms Phillips

Official Information Act request: Fines

Thank you for your email of 5 March 2020 requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
information about private organisations imposing fines.

Due to the need for consultation regarding the information, and the impact of the Government’s level 4
lockdown, due to Covid-19, on the Ministry’s ability to do so, a response cannot reasonably be made
within the original time limit. Accordingly, I am extending the time limit for response to this request by 40
working days under section 15A of the Act and wil  respond to you by 3 June 2020.  We wil  endeavour,
however, to get a response to your before that time if possible.

You have the right under section 28(3) of the Act to complain to the Ombudsman about the decision to
extend the time for responding to your request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by emailing
[email address].

Yours sincerely
