Dear Blaize
Thank you for your email of 15 January 2020 to the Ministry of Education requesting the
fol owing information:
1. Please provide a csv file on the total amount each individual school in New Zealand
has received from the Ministry for the purpose of Building, Maintenance, and the
upkeep and modernisation of Land, Buildings etc between January 2010 and
December 2019.
2. Please also provide information on the amount each school has received from the
Ministry for the purpose of instal ing internet facilities such as wifi routers, servers, etc
between January 2010 and December 2019.
On 23 January we clarified part two of this request to include both the funding made directly
available to each school, and the cost of the active equipment.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Part one of your request
In response to the first part of your request, the csv file in Appendix One shows the total
Capital Spend and Maintenance aspect of the Operations Grant for al State Not Integrated
schools for the last 10 years.

The data excludes GST
•
Spend is from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2019
•
Excludes $230M of spend on land and buildings for schools that have not yet
opened
•
Excludes internal Ministry costs of delivery and national initiatives where analysis
at the School level is not available
•
Excludes Private, Public, Partnerships
•
Regarding the capital spend, the Ministry’s asset management systems have been
upgraded at various points in the last 10 years, so the data used in preparing this
response has been sourced from multiple sources. Prior to 2013/14 accruals and
prepayments were on occasion col ected for multiple schools and projects
together, so it is possible there are minor variances in the capital spend at school
level due to the way the financials were processed in these earlier years.

State Integrated Schools have not been included as Capital funding is provided to
the proprietor, and some proprietors may own multiple schools.
