I write in response to your Official Information Act request, received by us on 12 December 2019. You 
requested the following information: 
 
•  Could I please request if Counties Manukau District Health Board can provide an approximate 
estimate of hospital floor space in square metres of all the hospitals it owns, please?  
o  A rough estimate will be fine. 
 
As context for this response, Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) provides health and support services 
to people living in the Counties Manukau region (approx. 569,400 people). Our services are delivered 
via hospital, outpatient/ ambulatory and community-based models of care.  We employ more than 7,500 
staff, and see more than 118,000 people in our Emergency Department each year.  
 
We have provided (Table 1) the total floor area for each of the Counties Manukau DHB owned hospital 
facilities, noting that we also have a small number of other sites (e.g. dental clinics, community spaces) 
that  are  not  considered  hospitals,  and  note  that  some  of  the  facilities  listed  here  provide  only  out-
patient/ community-based services.
