I refer to your Official Information Act request dated 16 October 2019 where you requested information
from Hawke’s Bay District Health Board (HBDHB). Your questions and HBDHB’s response is provided below:
Please provide the total number of hospital beds from 2016 to 2019 at Hawke's Bay District Health
Board (yearly count)
In response to your request HBDHB provides the following table below which shows the number of
beds at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, Hastings. These beds include acute medical and surgical, paediatric,
maternity, rehabilitation, mental health beds.

Note:
Bed numbers for other Hawke’s Bay DHB sites are: Wairoa - 9 beds, and Central Hawke’s Bay
Health Centre, Waipukurau - 6 beds.
Figures provided indicate the number of beds available ie the count of physical bed
capacity/bed spaces. The count includes beds, roller beds, roller beds, lazy-boys etc.
The actual number of beds, resourced and open, varies daily.
