Dear L R Jackson

Official information request for submissions from the sexual harassment
prevention policy consultation

I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
dated 12 September 2019:

“I would like to request copies of all submissions and feedback received in
relation to Victoria University of Wellington’s proposed stand-alone Sexual
Harassment Prevention Policy and Procedures. I would like to request this
without identifying details.”

The University received 67 submissions on the draft Sexual Harassment Prevention
Policy and Sexual Harassment Prevention Procedures. These submissions amount to 213
pages of feedback. 121 individuals are credited as being involved in these submissions, as
well as another 16 University groups who provided submissions on behalf of their
membership.

In accordance with the University’s usual policy development process (as contained in the
University’s Policy Framework), the University group working on the draft policy and
procedures is currently reviewing these submissions and considering potential changes to
the draft Policy and Procedures.

Once this process has been completed, the University will release information on these
submissions to members of the University community.

Accordingly, your request is refused under section 18(d) of the Act on the basis that the
information requested will soon be publicly available.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
