I refer to your email of 04 September 2019, asking for the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
1.  Does the ACC Currently have a Study/Qualification in the ACC act and medico-legal aspects of 
ACC that New Zealanders can obtain knowledge and certification with the intentions of 
becoming advocates or the like 
2.  Has the ACC ever had a Study/Qualification available in the ACC act and medico-legal aspects of 
ACC that New Zealanders can obtain knowledge and certification with the intentions of 
becoming advocates or the like 
3.  If there is no qualification or ACC initiated courses, where may one likely Inquire to gain access to 
such knowledge Qualification 
 
ACC does not run, or have any involvement in courses relating to ACC legislation or law 
ACC does not have any involvement in courses about ACC legislation, or ACC-law more generally 
(whether for people training to be ACC Advocates or otherwise).  We are not aware of any such courses, 
run or supported by ACC, in the Corporation’s 45 years.   
 
We are also not aware of any courses, provided by tertiary institutions, that are specifically relevant to 
becoming an ACC Client Advocate (as opposed to a lawyer). 
 
You could consider contacting tertiary institutions directly to see what courses they offer that may be 
useful for becoming an Advocate. You could also look at ACC Advocacy websites, as these often have 
profiles of Advocates (including their educational background).
