We refer to your Official Information Act requests to the Department of Conservation 
dated 5 and 7 June 2019, relating to the kea that died from ingesting 1080 bait pellets 
that were applied during the 2011 Okarito pest control operation. 
 
In our letters to you dated 3 and 31 July, we informed you that we were taking steps 
to publish photos and information relating to those kea on the Department’s website. 
On that basis, we declined your request under section 18(d) of the Official 
Information Act 1982.
