Thank you for your email dated 5 August 2013, which Auckland Transport received on the same date, requesting 
CCTV footage and quoted as follows: 
  
“Recently at Te Mahia station, a woman was left behind after her children had boarded the train, as 
reported in the New Zealand Herald 
     (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10908263). 
     
 I would like to request any CCTV footage relevant to this incident - specifically, from the train's 
arrival at the station to the time the woman left the station after the train departed.” 
 
Auckland Transport  provides CCTV footage to the NZ Police  where  it  is required to assist  with  investigation of 
criminal  behaviour.    However,  Auckland  Transport  is  also  required  to  protect  our  customers’  privacy.  
Accordingly, we propose to refuse your request for CCTV footage under S7 (2) (a) of the LGOIMA whereby the 
withholding of information is necessary to protect the privacy of natural persons and also under the Privacy Act 
1993, S29 (1) (a), as to do so would involve the unwarranted disclosure of the affairs of another individual. 
Should you believe that we have not responded appropriately to your request, you have the right in accordance 
with section 27(3) of the LGOIMA to make a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsmen to seek an investigation 
and review of the decision.
