Thank you for your email of 30 May 2019 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
NZTA currently provides a number of open data sets, one which contains raw vehicle make and 
model details and one which contains the vehicle make and model details where incorrect 
spelling of the models has been cleansed. 
 
I would like a copy of the mappings for cleansing the model details. 
 
Ideally I would like it a csv file in the format of: 
 
Make, raw model, cleansed model 
 
However I am happy to receive the information in what ever format is easiest for the agency to 
produce.  I would be happy to receive the code that is executed to undertake this cleansing if 
that is all that is readily available. 
 
I am refusing your request under section 18(d) of the Act because the information requested will soon 
be publicly available. Within the next six weeks the information will be published on our Open Data 
Portal https://opendata-nzta.opendata.arcgis.com/. 
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
