Dear Samuel,
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
Re: Aotea Centre Artworks
Thank you for your follow-up enquiry on the Aotea Centre artworks, which we received on 10
April 2019.
The decision-makers responsible for which artworks wil be returned to the Aotea Centre
after its renovation are Robbie Macrae, Director of Auckland Live and Kirsten Paisley,
Director of Auckland Art Gallery.
Any works that are no longer suitable for the redesigned spaces wil remain carefully stored
until our new Aotea Studios development comes on stream. Robbie and Kirsten wil work
with the designers to display as many of these valuable artworks in the new space as
possible.
Regional Facilities Auckland has commissioned New Zealand artist Lisa Reihana for the new
artwork in the Aotea Centre foyer.
Auckland Council is withholding the commission cost of the Lisa Reihana digital art
installation under section 7(2)(b)(i ) Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
1987 as it would be likely unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person
who is the subject of the information.
Should you believe we have not responded appropriately to your request, you have the right
by way of complaint, under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA, to apply to the Ombudsman to seek
an investigation and review of the decision.
If you have any further queries please contact me on 09 301 0101 quoting Of icial
Information Request No. 8140004389.
Yours sincerely
