I-Rex KiwiRail Project

Patrick George O’Rourke made this Official Information request to Paul Goldsmith

The request was refused by Paul Goldsmith.

From: Patrick George O’Rourke

I live in Marlborough and the success of my employer and the local economy depends on KiwiRail Interislander Infrastructure that is decayed and outdated. I’m interested in the I-Rex project development and changes the new government has taken in approaching the project.

As a result, I ask that you please release any advice you have received about funding this project, and any communication and consultation taken with the local MP, Stuart Smith.

Please mention any caveats in examining this information.

Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer to help with this request.

If any of the information that I have requested is unavailable or would be difficult to retrieve, but similar information might be readily available, I would be happy to discuss altering or refining my request.

As a New Zealand Permanent Resident, I am eligible to make requests under the OIA.

Yours faithfully,

Patrick George O’Rourke

Arts Culture and Heritage, Minister of Justice, Minister for State Owned
Enterprises and Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations.

The Minister considers all correspondence important and appreciates you
taking the time to write.  Please note that as Minister Goldsmith receives
a large amount of correspondence it is not always possible to personally
reply to all emails.

The following guidelines apply:

• Portfolio related correspondence will be considered and responded to
where appropriate

• If your message is for Minister Goldsmith's advice, or if you have
copied your email to another Minister and/or Member of Parliament with
more appropriate portfolio responsibilities, then this will be noted

• Invitations and requests to meet with the Minister will be processed as
soon as possible and a staff member will be in contact with you in due
course.  Please note this email is an acknowledgment that your
invitation/request has been received.

• If you have made a request for official information then this will
be managed in accordance with the provisions of the Official Information

• If your email falls outside of the Minister’s portfolio
responsibilities, expresses a personal view, or is copied to multiple
Members of Parliament, then your opinion will be noted and your
correspondence may be transferred to another office, or there may be no
further response to you

• Media queries will be referred to the Minister’s press secretary

Again, thank you for writing.
