Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 17 April 2024 as a follow up to information previously
released to you (H2024037639 refers) regarding advertising and nominations for the Health
Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (HPDT). You requested:
“The Ministry received a total of 61 applicants, three of whom received an endorsement
from a nominating agency. The Ministry sought applications for the following vacant
positions: • 5 medical laboratory technicians • 6 chiropractors • 5 physiotherapists • 5
dental technicians • 3 dispending opticians • 7 laypeople
So within that 61 applicants, how many you have received per each category. E.g.
7 are for medical laboratory technicians category, 4 are for chiropractors category etc.
Also, "three of whom received an endorsement from a nominating agency." from which
nominating agency and for which category of application.”
Of the 61 total applications the Ministry received:
• 9 were chiropractors
• 2 were dental technicians
• 1 was a dispensing optician
• 12 were medical laboratory technicians (please note 2 applicants have withdrawn their
applications since your previous request but are stil counted here)
• 25 were laypeople (please note that 1 late application was received subsequent to my
previous response but is not counted here)
• 12 were physiotherapists.
The Ministry received endorsement from the Ministry of Ethnic Communities for 2 lay
candidates, and from the Ministry for Women | Manatū Wāhine for 1 lay candidate.
