Response to your request for official information Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 13 March 2024. You requested:
I noted, you have recently call for nomination for your member role: Health Practitioners
Disciplinary Tribunal. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform
you have call for public nominations e.g., govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications
you have received from the public and how many you have received from other
nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for each of your role, I
understand you have call for both community member role and none- community member
role. Also, how many vacancy you had for each of the role and when you anticipate the
process will finish.
The Ministry publicly advertised for the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (HPDT)
vacancies on both the Ministry of Health Jobs website and the NZ Government Jobs website:
•
www.health.govt.nz/about-ministry/careers •
www.jobs.govt.nz/
Public advertising began on 26 February 2024 and closed on 12 March 2024.
The Ministry also called for nominations for HPDT from nominating agencies. While no direct
nominations were received, nominating agencies provided a list of names of endorsed
applicants.
The Ministry received a total of 61 applicants, three of whom received an endorsement from a
nominating agency.
The Ministry sought applications for the following vacant positions:
• 5 medical laboratory technicians
• 6 chiropractors
• 5 physiotherapists
• 5 dental technicians
• 3 dispending opticians
• 7 laypeople
Due to several factors, it can be difficult to anticipate when the appointments process for the
HPDT will finish. The Ministry’s standard recruitment process can take between six to 12
months from advertisement to final appointment.
I trust this information fulfils your request. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with
